Title: Lazarus 0.9.28.2 and RPM 4.4.6
Post by: LazaruX on November 05, 2009, 03:19:11 pm
I was trying to install version 0.9.28.2 but cannot install it because it says it needs a later version of RPM.
Does somebody know how to update RPM?
I downloaded the tar file from the rpm website, but don't know how to install it.
If i install Lazarus with the --nodeps option, it will install, but show me a broken package in Synaptic

System is:
PCLinuxOS 2009 32 bit

Isn't anybody having this problem?
I think it's because lazarus was packaged with a later version of RPM. Is there a reason for that?

This is the exact message i get:
rpmlib(FileDigests) <= 4.6.0-1 is needed by lazarus-0.9.28.2-0.i586

I made an error on the subject of the post.
The size of my downloaded rpm is: 63 mb

Any suggestions or link on how to fix this rpm hell?

I had this problem.
I removed all packages about lazarus and fpc and then installed again. (from the 63 mb file - not synaptic)
packages in synaptic were old for lazarus 0.9.28.2

The size is correct. What is a version of your RPM related packages? In my case:

# rpm -qa | grep rpm
rpm-4.4.2.3-18.el5
rpm-libs-4.4.2.3-18.el5
rpm-python-4.4.2.3-18.el5

Haven't check on openSUSE but I am pretty sure that there I also have 4.4

the package lazarus was built with a newer version of rpm than the one in
rhel5. You should ask the provider of the pkg to [re]build it with these
rpmmacros enabled

%_source_filedigest_algorithm 0
%_binary_filedigest_algorithm 0

then it will work on rhel5.
