Creating Service Applications?

I'm still new to Pascal coming from Basic and PHP, anyways like in Delphi it has the units for creating services and it is really simple but using FreePascal I have not found any examples of doing this. Is is possible to create Service Applications in Lazarus or FreePascal for Windows and Linux?
